The Church began with Bible studies in Batavia, Alexander, and Bethany. These home Bible studies grew to the point where homes were not large enough. Then a search began for a suitable building. After much prayer, a vacant building was located at 4131 Rose Road, Batavia, NY. Again, prayer went up for God’s guidance, and a gift of $1,000.00 from Esther DeMay served as the initial down payment for the property. Weeks of cleaning and renovating followed to make the building suitable for church services. The first Sunday services were held on the first Sunday in September 1977, conducted by Pastor Eugene DeMay, with his wife Geraldine handling the music. It was an exciting service, realizing a dream come true. To God be the Glory.
The church continued to grow, necessitating more room. After praying about it, the decision was made to build a new church. The new building was built by the men of the Church and was completely paid for by the time the first service was held. The ladies supported the effort by providing meals for the workers. God miraculously supplied the materials and expertise, making the dream of a new Church a reality. Now, more than 40 years later, we enjoy this very comfortable and functional facility. We give God all the praise and glory for all He has done and continues to do in building lives and transforming hearts for His Kingdom.
Eventually, it became time for Pastor DeMay to retire. With much prayer, we were led to a small church meeting at the YWCA. After discussions, we agreed that they needed a permanent place to meet, and we needed a Pastor. This union took place in April of 2010, with our first combined service on Easter Sunday. Pastor Charlie Piscitello and his wife Judi, along with Pastor Henry Pokrywa and his wife Ginny, took over as the spiritual leaders of Faith Community Chapel at that time. In 2012, Pastor Henry became the sole spiritual leader of the Church.
We are a loving, caring Church of true believers and would love to have you and your loved ones become a part of this Family of God. We preach the Bible only, as the true Word of God.
